Description:Buton Island is a small island that is part of Southeast Sulawesi Province. This island has agricultural products ranging from rice, coconut and chocolate. However, the low public awareness of environmental conservation has caused agricultural production on this island to decline. The very high use of manufactured fertilizers and pesticides is the result of monoculture farming practices that have long been going on on this island. Mrs. Gung as one of the driving agents on this island, wants to introduce environmentally friendly farming techniques that rely on compost or manure whose raw materials are very abundant on this island.

Type of Work: By working with the local community we will create a pilot permaculture garden in this location. This permaculture garden will be utilized by the community for the purpose of fulfilling food needs, and producing compost and manure. For the production of compost and manure using waste and potential organic materials in the local environment to reduce production costs. Work: ● Performing physical work on farmland ● Preparing equipment for composting and making manure ● Marking the land for permaculture gardens that will be developed in the future ● Making simple installation construction in the garden

Study Theme: Aims: ● Creating a permaculture garden plot demo for the community ● Carrying out plant cultivation ● Production of local microorganisms for composting and making manure ● Making compost and manure for community supplies ● Making plant beds and planting horticultural plants and supporting plants

Accommodation:The host Family of Bu Gung, Males &Females will be in separate rooms and will stay in the neighborhood of the host family with the use of a shared toilet and kitchen.

Language:Locals speak Butonese (Cia-cia Language /Language (Local language) as their first language, & Bahasa Indonesia as their second language. Learn some basic Bahasa Indonesia will be easier for you to work with them.

Requirements: has a a basic skill in farming such as: seedling, and composting will be preferable

Notes: Feel free to bring equipment or educational materials to have fun with local children at your campsite. Buton Island is an island in Southeast Sulawesi province, with a community that still practices diverse local traditions. Volunteers must be prepared for a simple lifestyle and side by side with each other.
