Description: The area in the Kintamani region is widely known as the center of Kintamani orange production, the taste of which is beyond doubt. Mass production of Kintamani oranges has led farmers to practice a monoculture planting system that wastes energy and uses manufactured fertilizers and pesticides. In the long term, it is feared that this habit can cause environmental problems in the form of decreased soil quality, air pollution, erosion hazards, water and air pollution, and the unsustainability of agriculture in this area.
Type of Work: Mr. Intaran is one of the local community leader, encouraging the community to start producing their organic fertilizer from agricultural waste that is widely available, and reducing farmers’ dependence on the use of manufactured fertilizers and pesticides. Organic fertilizer produced from this waste can be used to fertilize the surrounding agricultural land, and if there is a surplus of production, it is sold or distributed to residents. In addition, farmers will be invited to practice the principles of sustainable agriculture through a permaculture approach where agricultural land is planted with several types of diverse food crops. Study Theme:Aims: ● Creating a permaculture garden plot demo for the community ● Carrying out plant cultivation ● Production of local microorganisms for composting and manure production ● Making compost and manure for community supplies ● Making plant beds, and planting horticultural plants, and supporting plants
Accommodation:The host Family of Pak Intran, Males & Females will be in separate rooms and will stay in the neighborhood of the host family with the use of a shared toilet and kitchen.
Language:Locals speak Balinese Language (Local language) as their first language, & Bahasa Indonesia as their second language. Learn some basic Bahasa Indonesia will be easier for you to work with them.
Requirements: has a a basic skill in farming such as: seedling, and composting will be preferable

Notes: Feel free to bring equipment or educational materials to have fun with local children at your campsite. Kintamani is located on one of the plateaus at the foot of Mount Batur so the air in this area is cooler and fresher. Volunteers must be prepared for a very simple lifestyle and side by side with each other.
