First Day: The “Green School” local action begins today, Monday, September 29, 2025. The event began at 9:00 AM and ended at 11:00 AM. Today’s local action took place at Al Islam Junior High School in Semarang City, Central Java Province, Indonesia. Twenty-four participants, including students and teachers, participated.
Today’s activity included an opening by the principal, followed by an explanation of the program and sustainable agriculture for the school environment. Mr. Sani delivered the presentation. The activity went smoothly. Hopefully, the knowledge and experience shared by Mr. Sani will encourage participants to start farming in the school environment.
Second Day: Semarang, September 30, 2025. The local action activity at Al Islam Middle School began with exercise, followed by an explanation of the day’s targets. Participants cleared the land for planting, then collected dry leaves and twigs, and prepared used gallon jugs for the planting medium. With 25 participants, including teachers and students, the activity was led by Mr. Sani, who shared his experiences in gardening. Finally, Mr. Sani demonstrated how to arrange and prepare the planting medium for planting. Today’s activity went smoothly.
Third day of gardening activities began with a brief explanation of the day’s activities. Participants were divided into groups and gathered materials and equipment to support the gardening activities. Most participants prepared the planting site by providing planting media and fertilizer, then added organic materials such as banana stem cuttings, twigs, and leaves, and finally covered them with straw.
Others filled used gallon jugs for the plants. Six large gallon jugs were prepared and filled with organic materials, including twigs, wet and dry leaves, and liquid organic fertilizer. As this was the final day of the green school program at this school, it concluded with an evaluation and a follow-up plan for planting and long-term maintenance. Overall, the local action activities at this school went smoothly, with enthusiastic participation from students and teachers.
